Do I need to be a licensed insurance agent or agency to apply?
Yes. The IRP program is exclusively for licensed insurance professionals — independent agents, agency principals, commercial lines specialists, and licensed brokers with active commercial auto or fleet books. We verify licensing during onboarding. Multiple agents within the same agency can each have individual IRP accounts, or the agency can operate a single centralized account.
Will Prometheus compete with my insurance products or relationships?
Never. Prometheus Fleet AI is a compliance technology and telematics company — not an insurance carrier, MGA, surplus lines broker, or competing product of any kind. We do not sell, underwrite, bind, or advise on commercial insurance. Referring us strengthens your client relationship because you're bringing them compliance value they couldn't find anywhere else. Your accounts remain 100% yours.
How exactly does the 30% commission work?
Your 30% is calculated on the Prometheus sales agent's commission on the closed deal — not the total contract value. Agent commissions are based on fleet size and product mix. General benchmarks: a 3-vehicle fleet deal generates approximately $1,750 in agent commission, so your share is $525. A 10-unit fleet deal generates approximately $3,500 in agent commission, so your share is $1,050. Full commission schedule with all tiers and products is provided at onboarding.
What happens after I refer a client? What does my client experience?
When you submit a referral in your IRP portal (via DOT# or carrier name), a Prometheus sales agent is assigned automatically and contacts your client within 24 hours. The referral goes directly to the agent — no SDR queue, no cold outreach delays, no generic pitch. Your client receives a call from an agent who already has their full FMCSA profile, fleet size, current CSA scores, and operating status. The conversation is informed, specific, and professional from the first word.
How does Prometheus actually help my loss ratio?
Carriers enrolled in Prometheus compliance monitoring see measurable reductions in CSA violations — particularly vehicle maintenance and hours of service, which are the top two BASIC categories correlated with commercial auto claims. The mechanism is straightforward: real-time alerts catch problems early, carriers fix violations before FMCSA finds them, fewer violations means fewer inspections, fewer inspections means fewer findings, fewer findings means fewer claims. Your loss experience on referred accounts improves directly as a result of compliance improvement.
Can I refer carriers I don't currently insure?
Yes. While the program is most powerful for your existing book — where you already have relationships and can have a warm conversation — you can refer any commercial fleet carrier, including you identify a carrier who needs compliance help and could benefit from Prometheus, the referral is valid regardless of whether they're currently a client. You earn 30% either way when the deal closes.
What do I need to submit a referral?
Just the carrier's DOT number. When you enter a DOT# in your IRP portal, Prometheus automatically pulls their full FMCSA profile — legal name, fleet size, state, CSA scores across all 5 BASICs, operating status, OOS history, and contact information. You don't gather any documentation. If you don't have their DOT#, search by carrier name. The entire referral process takes about 2 minutes.
Is there a minimum referral requirement to stay active?
No minimums. No activity requirements. Your IRP agreement stays active as long as you maintain your license and remain in good standing. Refer one carrier per quarter or one per day — the program works at any volume. We only succeed when your referrals close, so there's no pressure and no quota.
